Ongoing care target

It’s been a whirlwind of activity here since I landed, with 4 different nurses coming to the house, 2 per day, feeding him 6 times a day, changing whenever he needs it and moving him into different positions every 2 hours.

Frances and Denise are supervising as each nurse has varying skill levels and understanding of what he needs, while the house maid cooks and prepares meals and cleans up!  I am gaining an intimate knowledge of what it takes to look after just 1 person, so be grateful when you see a nurse!

Frances and Cesar consult on the best position for him while Jorge hydrates and feeds.

This new target is for his ongoing weekly care needs which is running at about $500 per week and the two sets of ambulances getting him to and from the aircraft.  We still don’t have a definitive destination but I will be working on that once everyone is back from the holiday.

I know we have all done a remarkable job getting the flight funds getting us to the end of the year and there is only 17 days to go until he gets on board, so anything you can spare will be appreciated.

  1. Amazing kindness. And yes Nic, it’s an absolute learning curve with all the work that needs to be done for just one person and the cost of it too. Xx
